Qualifications:

  • PE
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Knowledge of Industry standards associated with railway design and operation

Director of Rail Systems
Location: Washington

On Behalf of our client we are looking for an Industry Leader for a Director of Rail Systems role:

Responsibilities:

Act as a spokesperson within the client for the Systems group.
§  Increase the client's industry profile through regular interaction with potential clients and other consultants as well as participation in industry organizations, such as AREMA, APTA and other relevant regional organizations.
§  Identify and track potential projects and teaming opportunities including design/build opportunities through client liaison.
Develop and monitor an annual business plan for the Systems group.
Provide input into the annual Rail/Transit Sector Plan and overall Transportation Practice Area business plan.
Provide input to the Transit Sector Leader (SL) in identifying and following through on key hires, acquisitions, major project and cross-regional pursuits including possible national client accounts.
Provide input into the employee Career Development and Performance Review, Compensation and Bonus processes for key staff from the Systems group perspective.
Identify and develop existing and future leadership candidates and career development opportunities for staff within the Systems group.

A major responsibility of this role is assisting in the identifying, winning and hands-on involvement through managing/providing senior leadership for systems projects across North America. Recognizing the status of the Systems group, time commitments are considered only in terms of broad ranges and subject to revision as the role evolves.

Specific responsibilities undertaken in collaboration with the local leadership and others in the Transportation Practice area include:
Encourage cooperation, sharing of skills and workload between Systems staff located in various Transportation Practice Area profit centers across the company and in other practice areas, where considered appropriate.
Project Specific Business Development (20 to 50% Time Commitment)
§  Development of project teams
§  Leadership in the proposal preparation process
Project Management/Leadership (30 to 60% Time Commitment)
§  Management and leadership of major or key transportation projects in a leading role as a Project Director, Project Manager and/or Technical Lead.
§  General oversight and assistance to other project managers within Systems group with particular attention to any problematic projects.
§  Lead efforts to continue improvements in QA/QC processes and fostering a culture of being cost effective and thorough in delivering projects.

3.     Ensure that projects remain on target, meet high quality standards, generate profit, achieve desired market positioning, and receive high client satisfaction ratings particularly with regard to client relationships and performance.

5.     Assist with and contribute to marketing activities such as creating market intelligence, finding bid opportunities, and positioning the organization to gain business pre RFP.

7.     Build teams for pre-proposal projects. This will include identifying current staff that would be appropriate for the team as well as recruiting new local employees based on business plan targets and HR policies.

8.     Contribute to proposal preparation with a specific focus on technical content, budgets, and organization charts.

9.     Find appropriate companies to partner with in the United States.

10.  Use Salesforce and BST applications to promote comprehensive and precise sales forecasting to help the organization with financial objectives such as budgeting, cashflow projections, etc.

11.  Occasionally replace the President of the company at presentations and panel seminars if the President is not available.

Principle Systems Engineer

Responsibilities include (But not limited to):

  • Field testing and troubleshooting
  • Designing solutions to meet current and future needs including systems concepts, requirements, architectures and message / control flows.

Experience Required:
